Located about two hours north of Toronto
in the heart of the Kawartha Lakes region, Havenwood
Farms is the oldest and largest breeder of Mountain
Saddle horses in Ontario. Beginning with our first two
Rocky Mountain mares in 1992 (when the registry itself
was only five years old) we have grown to a herd of over
forty horses, including two double-registered
(RMHA/KMSHA) stallions.
The farm is a family business run
by Glen and Rene Wood, and their son and daughter-in-law
Tom and Colleen Wood. Actually, "the farm" is
really three adjoining farms, spanning nearly 400 acres
of mixed pasture land, hayfields, hardwood and cedar
bush. Miles of scenic trails, for pleasure riding (and
training) wind through the property and the surrounding
area.
Each spring our new foals arrive. We usually have
between fifteen and twenty babies, depending on the year,
about half of which will sold as weanlings. The balance
are kept and trained under saddle, generally being
offered for sale as three year-olds.
Our horses are very hardy. They foal on
pasture and live outside all year, except during their
weaning. They are fed outside in winter from round bale
feeders and very seldom make use of the run in barn
available to them, even in a driving snow storm with
temperatures around zero.
All our horses are sold on a 30 day money back
guarantee (we've never had one back) and their vision
status is guaranteed.
